Shingles Vaccine

From the 1st September 2023 the shingles vaccination programme has been expanded to protect more people at an earlier age.

Shingles is a common condition that causes a painful rash. It can sometimes lead to serious problems such as long-lasting pain, hearing loss or blindness. You are more likely to get shingles, and it is more likely to cause serious problems, as you get older or if you have a severely weakened immune system.

Those newly eligible for a shingles vaccine include:

  • patients who turned 65 on or after 1 September 2023
  • patients aged 70 to 79
  • patients aged 50 and over with a severely weakened immune system

Once you become eligible for your shingles vaccine we will contact you to book an appointment
