Disabled Access and Accessible Information Standards

Accessible Information Standard
From 1 August 2016 onwards, all organisations providing NHS care and/or publicly-funded adult social care are legally required to follow the Accessible Information Standard. This Standard outlines a specific, consistent approach to identifying, recording, flagging, sharing, and meeting the information and communication support needs of patients, service users, carers, and parents with disabilities, impairments, or sensory loss.

We want to ensure that all our patients have access to information they can understand and offer any support needed if a need is identified. You can reach us in person, by telephone, or by email at sxicb-esx.thenooksurgery@nhs.net

This support extends to friends, family, and carers of patients who may have difficulty accessing the surgery, booking, and/or remembering appointments.

Disabled Access
Hartfield Surgery
Hartfield surgery is fully accessible for disabled patients, it is on ground floor level with no stairs, or steps to access, and has wide automatic doors to allow for wheelchair access.
There is adequate parking, including 2 designated disabled parking spaces at the front of the surgery.

Groombridge Surgery
There is limited car parking available in the lay-by opposite the surgery. There is one disabled parking bay available on our driveway immediately adjacent to the surgery. There is a doorbell outside the surgery to summon assistance from our patient services team if necessary.  If you have any specific requirements or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance so that necessary arrangements can be made.

Translation Services
We offer free interpretation and translation services by telephone for patients who do not speak English. If you require this service, please contact us directly when booking your appointment so that we can arrange for a translator in advance.

Guide dogs
Guide dogs are welcome at the surgery. However, please be mindful of other patients who may have allergies or a fear of dogs.
