Disabled Access and Accessible Information Standards

Accessible Information Standard
From 1 August 2016 onwards, all organisations that provide NHS care and/or publicly-funded adult social care are legally required to follow the Accessible Information Standard. The Standard sets out a specific, consistent approach to identifying, recording, flagging, sharing and meeting the information and communication support needs of patients, service users, carers and parents with a disability, impairment or sensory loss.

We provide all our patients access to information they can understand and offer any support needed if a need is highlighted. You can do this in person, by telephone or by email: [email protected]
This includes friends, family and carers of patients, who may have difficulty accessing the surgery, booking and/or remembering appointments.

Disabled Access

Hartfield Surgery
Hartfield surgery is fully accessible for disabled patients, it is on ground floor level with no stairs, or steps to access, and has wide automatic doors to allow for wheelchair access.
There is adequate parking, including 2 designated disabled parking spaces at the front of the surgery.

Groombridge Surgery
There is limited car parking available in the lay-by opposite the surgery. There is one disabled parking bay available on our driveway immediately adjacent to the surgery. It would be helpful if patients with mobility difficulties make this known when making an appointment so that necessary arrangements can be made.
There is a doorbell outside the surgery to summon assistance from our patient services team if necessary.

Translation Services
We can arrange free interpretation and translation services by telephone for patients who do not speak English. Please contact the practice directly if you need this service when booking an appointment as a translator will need to be booked in advance.

Guide dogs
Guide dogs are welcome at the surgery, but we ask that you be aware of other patients and staff who may have an allergy or fear of dogs.
