Baby and Childhood Immunisation Clinics
Routine childhood vaccinations are a simple, safe and effective way of protecting children against harmful childhood disease. You will be contacted when your child is due for a routine vaccination. If you know your child is due for a vaccination, please book an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses. A checklist of the vaccines that are routinely offered to everyone in the UK for free on the NHS, and the ages at which they should ideally be given is available on the NHS website.

If you’re not sure whether you or your child have had all your routine vaccinations, please get in touch with our reception team who will find out for you. It’s best to have vaccines on time, but you can still catch up on most vaccines if you miss them.

Asthma Reviews
Asthma is a common lung condition that causes occasional breathing difficulties. It affects people of all ages and often starts in childhood, although it can also develop for the first time in adults. Patients with asthma are invited for a regular check-up, and review of their asthma each year with the Practice Nurse. This will either be in person or as a telephone consultation. It’s a chance to talk about any triggers or symptoms, update your written asthma action plan, check your inhaler technique and discuss medication. You will be asked some questions about your lifestyle and family history, have your height and weight measured, your blood pressure taken and have a blood test.
You’ll be invited for a free NHS Health Check with our Health Care Assistant every 5 years if you’re between 40 and 74 years of age and do not already have a pre-existing condition. For more information on NHS Health Checks, visit nhs.uk – Health Checks

Home Blood Pressure Monitoring
If your blood pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your blood vessels, heart and other organs, such as the brain, kidneys and eyes. Persistent high blood pressure can increase your risk of a number of serious and potentially life-threatening health conditions, such as heart disease, heart attacks or strokes. For those with hypertension it is important to monitor your blood pressure regularly. We encourage patients to purchase a BP monitor to use at home and send us regular readings for a GP to review. If you do not have your own blood pressure machine, the surgery can loan you one. For more information on Hypertension, visit nhs.uk – Hypertension
