Making an appointment

You should ring on 01892 863326 during surgery hours to request an appointment. Same day appointments are released at 8am and 2pm. Patients can also book appointments online using SystmOnline or the NHS App.

The surgery operates a system of telephone appointments, appointments that can be booked in advance and same day urgent appointments. Face-to-face appointments are available to all patients when there is a clinical need.

We kindly ask that patients do not send requests for appointments, medical advice or repeat prescriptions by email.

eConsult
eConsult allows patients to submit their symptoms and send requests to a GP electronically. It also offers around the clock self-help information, a symptom checker and signposting to other services. You can also request things like test results, fit notes (sick notes) and GP letters.

Once you submit an eConsult, it will be sent directly and securely to our Patient Services Team. They will then triage each eConsult and forward it to your GP, or to an on-duty GP if your requested GP is not available. This ensures you get the right care as quickly and as safely as possible.

The GP will then do one of four things:

  • call you on the contact number provided, to discuss your eConsult in more detail.
  • ask our Patient Services Team to arrange a telephone or face to face appointment.
  • the GP may feel that a prescription is required, and will message you to let you know a prescription has been sent to the Dispensary, or your nominated pharmacy.
  • they may message you with some self-help advice.

Home Visits
The time taken by a doctor in visiting a patient at home is much longer than it is to see a patient at the surgery. Home visits are for the housebound, or those who are too ill to attend the practice, therefore you should only request a visit when it is absolutely essential and you are unable to get to either of our surgeries.
If you feel that you need a home visit, you will need telephone the surgery as soon after 8.00am as possible. Please give our team as much information as possible so the doctor can be advised accordingly and assess priority.

Extended Access Clinics
We recognise that sometimes it is difficult to access appointments during weekday working hours. We offer pre-bookable GP and Practice Nurse appointments at Hartfield Surgery every Wednesday evening between 6.30pm and 8pm, and one in six Saturdays between 8am and 12pm. Appointments will be offered as either telephone or face-to-face according to the needs of the patient and availability of the service.
Please note the reception team and telephone lines will not be open for general enquiries during Extended Access Clinics, however we are pleased to share that there will be a full dispensing service.
These appointments can be booked online or by phoning our reception team, during normal opening hours.
