From 23rd June 2025, patients living with obesity and at least four diagnosed health conditions may qualify for support using Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) through their GP.
The criteria to qualify are as follows:
• Your BMI must be above 40.
• A confirmed diagnosis of at least four of the following five health conditions:
Type 2 diabetes
Hypertension (raised blood pressure)
Cardiovascular disease (heart or stroke related disease)
Obstructive sleep apnoea
Dyslipidaemia (raised cholesterol)
We kindly ask that patients do not contact the practice to enquire, as we will be contacting eligible patients directly in due course.
If you do not meet all of the criteria, we will not be able to prescribe Mounjaro for weight loss under the current guidelines.
We understand that some patients may feel frustrated or disappointed. Living with obesity can be emotionally and physically challenging, and it is completely normal to experience a range of feelings when seeking support for your health. If you are finding things difficult, NHS Talking Therapies offers free and confidential help for people who may be struggling with low mood, anxiety or other emotional pressures.
There are many other weight loss services available, and we recommend visiting the NHS Sussex website to learn more about obesity treatment and support.
